the cover of issue 004!!

mnemotope issue 004 is launching this thursday, but we thought we’d share a little sneak peek of the magazine with you already (we are not particularly patient people).

here’s the cover! and some behind the scenes process things, loosely gathered below!

our process is often messy - we sit over-caffeinated at the table with sixteen different documents open until we get too frustrated with the computer, and then start frantically printing things. twenty print, scan and edit rounds later, a random old man from portland maine became our hazy friend on the cover.

lilou had taken this picture last summer, without much thought, and it didn’t resurface until now. this issue is very atmospheric, and while putting it together we often felt like we were peering through fences into other worlds - so when we stumbled back across the photo of the man, it felt right to dig it up and let it become the cover of issue 004. we’ve grown quite fond of him by now. hopefully he wouldn’t mind where he’s ended up.

bisou!!
