summer in the wetter countries
'a fine soft day we have', they say in galway when the haze is made of rain
one of us is in the west of ireland and one in the south of finland, both at the edge of the sea. the summer haze in both of these places looks a little different than you’d imagine - grey clouds stretch down to the floor, obscuring our view of the islands across the bay from us. the feeling, however, is no different than that of warmer summer hazes. the duration between messages stretches out a little longer, the days fall away a little more slowly, dropping like heavy fruit from trees.
bog bodies press, you would imagine, is somewhere between the two of us, in the midst of these clouds and maybe a little out of reach. in some ways, that’s true - we’re doing more reading than publishing these last few days, and are often distracted by being home (hence the temporarily sleeping - napping? - instagram).
however, amongst all of that we’re laying the groundwork for new projects that we couldn’t be more excited for; books in the works, the forthcoming open call for issue 006 of mnemotope (stay tuned!), our first birthday and all sorts of dutch design week planning. we can’t wait to share it all with you very soon!
in the meantime, let the summer haze catch you for a few days, if you can - those messages will still be there tomorrow, and the islands will come back into view.
your bog bodies,
lilou & réi
