if you’ve been thinking about [sending something in for issue 008 of mnemotope](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScua%5FVkJt2PvlaeqI13ovEPXizGpYz450kE4VuWTm56HRrRvg/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=108761435682511190559&ref=meetingplace.bogbodiespress.com), today is the day! there’s no theme, nor restrictions on grammar style form etc. we know you have a drawing or a list or a poem somewhere, just waiting to be shared.

but if nothing springs to mind, and you don’t have plans this evening, why not try out one of the prompts below? we used them in our drop-in workshop during the [european literature night](https://debalie.nl/programma/european-literature-night-against-indifference-2-28-06-2025/?ref=meetingplace.bogbodiespress.com) on the theme of hope, and although participants only had a few minutes to write, we ended up with such beautiful, witty, moving pieces. sometimes a jumping-off point can be helpful for writing - especially if you (like so many of us) have a bit of a writers block when faced with a blank page.

try a few out, and [send your work to the mnemotope issue 008 open call by tomorrow at midnight!](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScua%5FVkJt2PvlaeqI13ovEPXizGpYz450kE4VuWTm56HRrRvg/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=108761435682511190559&ref=meetingplace.bogbodiespress.com)

##### What does hope taste like?

##### Put a hopeful playlist together - anything from 3 songs to 30!

##### Hope is a place. What does it look like? How do you get there?

##### Is hope necessary?

##### What does hope cost?

##### Do hope and indifference have anything in common?

##### Where do you look for hope?

##### A seed was planted centuries ago. It’s just now blooming. What is it? Who planted it?

##### Hope often lives in the margins. Tell us a story where it never enters the main plot, but still somehow shapes it.

##### List the objects in a strangers pocket. Each item is a clue to the hope they’re carrying.

##### Write in fragments; five (or more!) short paragraphs starting with “But still, …”

##### Write a letter from hope to grief, starting with “I’m sorry for arriving late.”

##### Build a house out of hope. What does it look like? What is it made of? Where do you build it?

##### Can hope be taught?

##### How do you maintain hope? What do you feed it, how do you care for it, how do you exercise it?

##### What does it mean for someone else to hold hope for you? Use a memory or story you’ve heard as an example.

##### Hope is stubborn. What does it refuse?

##### Make an itinerary for a day in your city or town that restores your hope.

##### Make a list of hopeful gestures.

##### Is hope a right, a privilege or a responsibility? Explain why. Change your mind halfway through.

##### Write a letter to someone who made or kept you hopeful, without them having realised it.

##### Where does hope live in your body? What does it feel like?

##### What’s the difference between hope and optimism? Which do you trust more?

##### Is hope a habit?

##### Hope isn’t always gentle. Tell us about the disruptive, loud, abrasive, insistent hope.

##### Make a list of books, movies and tv shows that made you feel hopeful.
